Central Election Commission Chairman Lee Chin-Yung led a group to Bengaluru, India on September 1 2019 to attend the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) Executive Board Meeting and the 4th General Assembly. The CEC was successfully re-elected as an Executive Board member in the meeting.
The CEC stated that A-WEB is an electoral international organization founded in South Korea in 2013. Currently, it composed of 114 national election management bodies. The CEC joined it as the founding member. During the A-WEB 3rd General Assembly in 2017, it was the first time the CEC was elected as an Executive Board member. This year, Chairman Lee led the group to the 4th General Assembly and actively pursued to run the second term of Executive Board Member and was successfully elected. Chairman Lee immediately spoke at the meeting, thanking the A-WEB members for their support and the warm reception from the Election Commission of India. He also emphasized that the CEC is the founding member of A-WEB and will participate in more A-WEB activities to fulfill the membership obligations in the future.
The CEC will continue to promote international cooperation in
elections, and to enhance Taiwan's international participation in international organizations.
